Wine

The French-born gourmet André Simon, Grand Master of the English wine trade for the first half of the 20th Century sums it up quite well:

Wine makes every meal an occasion, every table more elegant, every day more civilized.wine bottle in bordeaux

Impossible to say it better.

That, my friends, is the secret to living so Frenchly.

Even the esteemed great American inventor and Founding Father Benjamin Franklin was a huge proponent of wine. In fact, wine and holiness were pretty mixed in his mind. The way our revered Ben Franklin saw it:

Wine is constant proof that God loves us and loves to see us happy.

Benjamin Franklin
(1706-1790)

I mean the guy discovered electricity. Gotta listen to him, right?

Throughout the pages of this website, wine is a predominant reoccurring theme. That’s because wine is a key ingredient in living so Frenchly and in reveling in all the beauty and joy of life.

Browsing through our wine-related categories is like an Easter-egg hunt for most wine lovers.

In the section simply called Wine you will find all sorts of information about wine you probably never knew. It had tidbits we’ve gleaned from our travels and studies, habits, traditions, accessories, all sort of wine-factoids wine nerds like us love.

There is also a section on Suggested Wine & Food Pairings that help guide meals and gatherings. You will note here, wine comes first.

Then of course, we have Wine Reviews of all sorts of wines available on our domestic market in the U.S. These are fully independent taste and price reviews with links to the best deals we can find. We are not wine professionals. And we don’t make money off of our reviews. But we do LOVE WINE and we LOVE BARGAINS. And we love to pass on what we taste and find to you — because what is the joy of wine if you can’t share it?

You will also find specific links to your favorite types of wine, like Red Wines or White Wines or Rosé Wines. We urge you to check them out. And if you possibly can, stretch your palate just a little bit. We can help with that. Our reviews are great guides if you are unfamiliar with a certain type of wine.

And then, finally, we also have a section called Product Reviews that covers all sorts of kitchen, cooking, and wine accessories like finding the right glass for your favorite wine at a bargain price or how to choose the best decanter or cork screw at the best price. We do the research and all the heavy lifting for you.

Wine and food. Food and wine. Either way, it is the perfect marriage. A truly civilized marriage. And one based on love.

In the words of he who wrote words like no one other:

Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing.

Ernest Hemingway
(1899-1961)

I truly could not agree more wholeheartedly.

À votre santé!
